First (Little) Steps, A New Room for Sid, Crying for a Lack of Bread

We're not sure why Sid felt the need to scoot up so close to his sister, but since she didn't seem to mind, who cares?
Sidota loves to farm. Daily he asks to check and see how many tomatoes are ripe. On the way, he found this zucchini that was ready to be picked.
Sophia, who was enjoying a lovely seat by the pond in our backyard, could not take her eyes off her brother. "So we've pulled a few of these things out of the yard. What in the world are they used for?"
I love it when he has too many things to carry. It's fun to watch him tuck that last item under his chin, and walk about 7 steps before the whole thing falls apart. One of these days, he's gonna make it work.
We've started driving to various places in Nampa to take our walks (we'd seen enough of our subdivision). Today we were on the greenbelt between Roosevelt and Lake Lowell. Sid loves to run, and Korri caught a pretty nice photo of me trying to keep up.

After our big jog down the greenbelt, we needed some time to sit and think about improving my stamina. Ethiopia's best marathon runner just lowered his own world record in the event, so Sidota had lots of advice. Sophia loves walking with her family in this lovely purple backpack, but we can never capture that attitude digitally. She waves her hands around and talks much of the time, when she isn't sleeping. Doesn't motherhood look good on my wife?
Sid's first duck birdy (what he calls them) feeding experience. He throws out the bait, tries to get the birds to come close and then.....
...runs away and screams bloody murder.
After we got home our walk, Korri still isn't done working out. This is what she has to put up with if she tries to do sit ups with the kids around. Can you see the anger and frustration on her face?

So this afternoon, due to constantly worrying about whether or not Sophia's crying would wake up Sid, we decided to move him into his own room sooner than usual. The only reason I didn't want to do it is that now he misses out on all Wende Tindall's great art on the walls. The other day Korri was putting him to sleep, and he looked at her with his awesome grin, pointed to the wall and said, "Monkeys." But it will be better for all of us to have them separate. Plus, as you can see in the photo, he loves the fact that his room has the bookcase.
Korri cleaned out a drawer of hers and found a great pair of glasses. Hilarity ensued.
Is he trying to look sad, or cool?
Sophia was really having no part of the dorky glasses. We tried about 5 times to get a pic, this turned out to be the best representation of our efforts. She's above that type of humor.
This may not be the best photo, I was in a rush to take it. I was in the kitchen when Korri told me the kids were actually playing together. They had both been crabby, but came together so that Sid could show his sister how to work the puppets they were playing with. They also took their first ride together in the bicycle trailer with me. They sat there nicely, Sophia talking to herself or Sid most of the time. You know it's time to end the ride when Sid announces in English, "Go home and eat?"

We didn't get a picture of this, but like I said in the title, Sophia took her first two steps today. I was trying to hand her off to Korri for some more laps around the house. She stood there for about 10 seconds (her personal best), then took two little steps towards Korri. It was pretty cool. Send on your comments guessing what date you think she will take a minimum of... what sounds good...five steps? Winner gets a signed copy of her first drawing we don't like:)

Also, we have mentioned in the blog Sophia's love for bread. Today we saw the ugly side of that at dinner. We had some great stew Korri made, and a plate of bread sitting in the middle of the table. As long as she could see there was bread available, she wanted it fed to her. If Korri got herself bread, Sophia started to get agitated. When Korri refused to give her any more bread, she cried for well over 5 minutes straight. I know she likes bread, but even that surprised me a bit. We didn't think to get a photo for you, but trust me it wasn't pretty.

I love the pic of you and Sid running and the one of the two of you on the bench with his hands on your leg. Great pictures. And yes motherhood looks great on Korri. I love seeing the two of you with your kids:)
I bet Sophia will have taken at least 5 steps by Friday.

As I read the blog I can't help but smile the whole time. I am so happy for your little family. I'm sure there are times when you both want to pull your hair out, but when you look at these pictures and memories I'm sure it makes it all worth it. Thanks for sharing.
