While still wearing the pj's that Grandma and Grandpa Hogan got him, Sid helped fold clothes.

Mom and Sophia enjoyed some time out in the sun picking banana peppers.

We were both pretty surprised when Sophia seemed to not hate having the helmet on her head.

Sid got pinched by the under-chin strap when I secured it, which cut down on his initial enjoyment.

But they both eventually decided this new headgear suited them just fine.

As as a safety precaution, because he builds such tall towers, we now have Sid wearing a helmet to keep him from getting serious injuries from falling blocks.

Peek....

...
aboo!

Sid and
Sohpia both got some vaccinations today. Once at home, we asked Sid to show us his
ouches (no, he didn't get a shot in his shin, he just liked the bandage better there). We knew we wouldn't have to prompt him to show off the wounds, but didn't know he'd pose the right leg so...uh...nicely?

So we got a
nerf style tee-ball set today.

On our first attempt (or maybe our 5
th or 6
th, and
arguments about how he probably won't enjoy trying to hit it without my help) we get a big hit!

Then a big part of the fun was to chase the ball and see who could get to it first.

Sophia was a big fan of the activity, but I think her
raucous cheering got Sid to amped up because...

...he lost focus and totally missed the next ball altogether.

Which led to Dad giving Sophia a talk about appropriate noise levels from fans. After that she behaved much more like a little lady.
We had a big day. We went to Target and ended up buying them lots of outdoor style toys. Sid got a new little guy tennis racket and some foam tennis balls (no, I'm not forcing him to do tennis because I coach it), they each got fancy new bicycle helmets, we got them a plastic golf set, and some Tonka trucks. Sid only had a little meltdown when I took all the stuff out of his cart so it could be scanned. He doesn't yet understand that it will come back.
The family then took our first trip to Costco, where the kids got along great in the two-seater shopping cart, and enjoyed the free food samples. A nice appetizer before lunch; pumpkin muffins, mashed potatoes, and pizza bagel bites.
The last event was a trip to the doctor to get immunizations. Both kids cried like crazy, but Sid's wasn't as bad as being seat belted on the airplane. Sophia hated pretty much the entire thing, getting her ears checked and even having him listen to her breathe with a stethoscope. Sid, on the other hand, truly loved all but the shots. After the nurse got done taking his blood pressure reading with the arm cuff, he asked her to do it again.

Hey, I still have an extra tricycle that I would love to give you guys if you want it. It has the push handle on it to help them until they can peddle on their own. If you already have something- no prob- can just take it to Other Mothers. let me know.
So great to have met you at the big race last weekend. I have a doctor friend who visited Africa who now wants to connect with you. The kids are beautiful, and it's wonderful seeing you rejoice in these new blessings! PS. I'm Joy's mom, Linda!
I think Sid was fantastic on the plane! You are a beautiful, fun family. Thank you for sharing!
